Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1996 with a student intake of 32. Later B.C.A and M.Sc Computer Science were started in the academic year 2003-2004. From the year 2007 a second batch of B.C.A was started. The student intake for both sections of B.C.A is 40 and for M.Sc Computer Science it is 30. The Department entered a significant milestone by establishing itself as a research department by starting Ph.D part time course from 2004 and M.Phil full time course from the year 2012.
The department has well equipped laboratory facilities to provide the practical training to the students. Highly qualified and experienced faculty with specialization in Data Mining, Image Processing, Software Engineering, Natural language processing, Web Technology, Embedded systems, Evolutionary computing, Network Technology and Distributed Computing are working in the department. The Students are given exposure to latest trends in technology including Embedded System Design, Big Data Analytics, Image Processing, Extreme Programming, Software Testing, Sensor Networks, Cloud Computing, Soft Computing etc. through workshops, guest lectures and seminars.
The department also spearheads online examination for both P.G and U.G final year students, which enable them to face online exams elsewhere without any hitch. The faculties are also involved in the development of e-content which serves as a reference point for the student fraternity.
